Biography

Born and raised in southern Vermont, Megroz graduated from college without a plan. On a whim, he enrolled in a graduate journalism program at Emerson College in Boston. “I learned pretty quickly that it was a good fit,” says Megroz. “One of my first assignments in grad school was looking into a bizarre medical disorder, and I loved the research and writing process.” That led to an internship at Outside magazine in Santa Fe, New Mexico. “When the six-month internship ended, I was hired on as a researcher and just kept working my way up,” he says. After three years at Outside, Megroz spent another three years at Men’s Journal in New York City as a senior associate editor. In 2010, he left office life to freelance full-time, and now works on a variety of stories for several outlets, as well as copywriting for companies, large and small. “I like to think that I’m able to take on any type of writing or editing work,” says Megroz. “I’ve written big investigative stories for Wired and Outside, and I’ve written copy for businesses like Amazon and Toyota.”

Biography

Liam Doran’s one line descriptor on instagram is blunt. “No A.I. photos,” it reads. “Every image here actually happened in one place at one time.” That could be a mission statement for Doran. He got into photography by tucking a point and shoot film camera in his pocket while adventuring around Colorado with friends. Later, he pursued professional photography because the thought of a desk job terrified him. Now an established still shooter with a long list of commercial and editorial clients, those early days documenting outings with friends still inform Doran’s approach. “Even before A.I. was crashing into photography, I was after the genuine,” says Doran. “I don’t create composite images. I don’t put in fake skies. Instead of making some hyper surreal scene, I’m interested in the story.”
