What are the Elements of a Winning Hence Profile?
Posted by jed on November 21, 2024 at 10:04 amWe like to think of a Hence profile as your website, digital business card, résumé, and, for athletes and personas, your sizzle real. Except with Hence, all that information is in one place— the easily shareable and searchable Hence Roster.
We’re all unique: photographers tend to go deeper with galleries, while strategists speak to the what, why, and how of what they do. But in general, a Hence profile flows through three main sections.
- The top section is a snapshot overview of you: Get across your background, passion, and your approach to work up top, and don’t forget to highlight what sets you apart. Being a generalist is not a weakness. Neither is having a specialty.
- The middle section is your chance to back up those claims with examples of your work. Maybe that’s a gallery, maybe it’s a digital tear sheet, maybe it’s screen grabs and YouTube links. There’s room to play around but remember to edit yourself. Hence users are fast moving.
- And finally the bottom section is home to your credentials, career storyline, and work experience. Don’t blow this off. Users take in information in different ways. Some are visual processors, others are readers, and still more hunt and seek for bullets.
Want to quickly make your profile as effective as possible? We kick off the conversation below with some insights from the creatives and strategists helping to build Hence.

My top-of-mind tip is to build your profile around the type of work you want to do, as opposed to the work you might get too much of. The power of Hence is in the ability to tap your peers to collaborate on bigger projects. With a team, I can take on not just strategy work and native content, but an entire marketing and branding campaign. Think bigger. My colleague Boone Speed could speak to this idea.
