Driven by curiosity and a love of adventure and inspired by classic magazine picture stories, I began chasing a career in the photographic arts in the late 90’s. But it wasn’t just being a photographer that intrigued me, I realized I loved the entire creative process. I wanted to know how brands could create or impact culture, how to assign and select photos for catalogs, how to build a website (out of necessity in those days), create campaigns, and eventually learn the filmmaking process. I realized that it was all storytelling.
I’ve worked many years as a freelance photographer and video producer, but also in-house with major outdoor brands in roles such as Photo Editor and Content and Creative Director. I get almost as much satisfaction in assigning the right photographer to a shoot and collaborating with other creatives as I do when I’m the one holding the camera.
I continue to seek out work where my skills and creative ideas can be put to good use as part of a strong team. I’m equally comfortable sharing knowledge and mentoring, as I am listening and learning from others, and that’s the best part I think – the process we’re all going through to do great work.
